The Integral Education of Rural Girls and Women

On March 15, 2018, CWF Director and EPPC’s Kate O’Beirne Fellow Mary Rice Hasson spoke on a panel at the United Nations titled “The Integral Education of Rural Girls and Women.” Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations, opened the panel with a quote from Pope Francis: “To enable men and women to escape from extreme poverty, we must allow them to be dignified agents of their own destiny… This presupposes and requires the right to education.”

Mary’s remarks begin at 15:30 speaking on the global progress of education for girls, the reductive lens of “women’s empowerment,” and her proposition of “person-centered education” that aligns with every person’s innate dignity and purpose to love. Click here or watch below:
