2016 Catholic Women’s Symposium
Pope Francis describes gender ideology as the attempt to “sunder…inseparable aspects of reality,” the connection between “biological sex and the socio-cultural role of sex (gender).” Our 2016 symposium addressed the theological and pastoral implications of gender ideology, crucial questions such as what science can—and can’t—say about sex, gender, and gender identity, (transgender identities), the historical and political context of gender ideology, theological insights on sexual difference and kinship, gender ideology’s impact on Catholic families and youth, and the implications for religious liberty.
